study of median palmar cutaneous nerve involvement in a patient with wrist ganglion
نویسندگان
چکیده
background: few reports represent palmar cutaneous nerve neuropathy in the wrist due to a ganglion cyst. case presentation: a 25-year-old female was presented with a mass at volar side of the wrist and hypoesthesia at the base of thenar eminence. at ulrasonographic examination, a simple cyst was detected. sensory response of palmar cutaneous branch of median nerve was absent at the affected side. treatment: ultrasound guided drainage of the cyst was performed. at 3 months follow up examination, the patient was symptom-free. learned lessons: this case was rare among cases involving palmar cutaneous branch of median nerve due to the wrist ganglion documented by nerve conduction studies (ncs).

متن کاملThe Palmar Cutaneous Branch of the Median Nerve: A Detailed Morphometric Study
Damage to the palmar cutaneous branch of the median nerve (PCBMN) is a potential complication of surgery at the volar aspect of the wrist. The aim of this study was to determine the relationships of the PCBMN to both surface and bony landmarks using reliable methods. Ten pairs of forearms from cadavers aged 73 to 98 years were dissected. The PCBMN was identified and its course and relationships...
متن کاملThe anatomical variations of the palmar cutaneous branch of the median nerve in Chinese adults.
BACKGROUND In a detailed analysis of the palmar cutaneous branch of median nerve (PCN) in the Chinese adults, we tried to evaluate its anatomic variation and clinical significance. METHODS Observations were described in all the 60 specimens of the PCN at the wrist. RESULTS The PCN was present in all 60 specimens and in most cases (88.3%) it originated from the radial side of the median nerv...
متن کاملVariations in digital sensory patterns: a study of the ulnar nerve-median nerve palmar communicating branch.
Eighty percent of 50 dissected cadaver palms showed a communicating branch between the fourth and third common digital nerves (ulnar and median origins, respectively). The branch commonly crossed the palm with the superficial arterial arch and usually provided sensory fibers from a branch of the superficial ulnar nerve into the ring finger radial digital nerve. Caution should be taken during ca...
متن کاملSchwannoma of the Median Nerve at the Wrist and Palmar Regions of the Hand: A Rare Case Report
Schwannomas are also known as neurolemmas that are usually originated from Schwann cells located in the peripheric nerve sheaths. They are the most common tumours of the hand (0.8-2%). They usually present solitary swelling along the course of the nerve however multiple lesions may be present in cases of NF type 1, familial neurofibromatosis, and sporadic schwannomatosis. Schwannomas are genera...
